What is Talking Drums?

Talking Drums is a highly creative corporate activity that can be used in a wide variety of contexts, from team building to conference energisers, with any number of people, from 4 to 1,000 or more…

Talking Drums gives all its participants an opportunity to make a fantastic sound in harmony, banging out rhythms on a whole host of drums, percussion and fun musical instruments like didgeridoos, water butts, thunder tubes and boomwhackers.

Anyone can make a sound on percussion, and the secret of the show is in getting everyone to play uncomplicated rhythms together. Conference performances are often enhanced by the Drum Waiters, Mark Walker's after dinner drum troop, who can open an event with an exciting rhythmic performance and then assist delegates with the ensuing musical activities.

Talking Drums is run by Mark Walker, B.Ed. Hons, one of the drummers from The Lion King and member of The Rolf Harris Band. Talking Drums is very much personality led and is only ever presented by Mark, who's enthusiastic and infectious approach is recognised as a key ingredient to its success.

Teamwork

Whatever the style, music relies on teamwork - with Talking Drums participants have the opportunity to experience the power and joy of creating music. And with 10 years experience working at conferences and events, Mark Walker is able, if required, to take on board a client’s themes and help deliver messages and values through the musical activities in a relaxed, non-patronising and non-laborious manner.

Talking Drums is suitable for any sized group, and depending on the client's wishes can also incorporate singing and dance based on cultural traditions and chants from Africa, Egypt (belly dancing is always a popular affair), and Latin America (a musical conga around the room makes for an excellent finale).
